RYA Powerboat Level 1 - 1 day course

Add a splash of excitement to your holiday in Fuerteventura with our RYA Powerboat Level 1 course — the perfect introduction to driving a high-speed powerboat in one of the most beautiful boating locations in the Canaries. This fun, hands-on course is ideal for beginners and families, and includes a scenic trip across the turquoise waters to the stunning island of Lobos. There’s usually time for a swim straight from the boat, making the day as refreshing as it is adventurous. No experience needed — just bring your enthusiasm and enjoy a unique mix of learning and leisure on the open sea!

The course is conducted on is a Grand G750 7.5 metre RIB with a 200hp V8 Mercury engine. There is a maximum of three people on the course.

The RYA Powerboat Level 1 course is a one-day introduction to powerboating, designed for beginners with no prior experience. It focuses on basic boat handling and safety, teaching participants how to launch and recover a boat from a trailer, handle the boat in various situations, and utilize essential safety equipment. The course is suitable for both adults and children, with a focus on practical on-the-water experience.

The minimum age to take the RYA Powerboat Level 1 course is 8 years old. Those under 16 will be issued with an endorsed certificate requiring adult supervision. The course is designed to provide a basic introduction to powerboating.

Basic Boat Handling: This includes understanding the controls, maneuvering the boat at slow speeds and an introduction to planing speed (high speed), and basic navigation.

Safety Equipment: The course covers the proper use of safety equipment, such as life jackets, kill cords, and other essential items.

Everyday Boat Handling: Participants practice basic maneuvers like leaving and coming alongside, securing to a mooring buoy.

Crew Considerations: The course also touches upon preparing the boat and crew for a safe outing.
