Make your holiday in Fuerteventura truly unforgettable by joining our RYA Powerboat Level 2 course — the perfect blend of hands-on training and coastal adventure. Over two thrilling days, you’ll learn to drive a high-speed powerboat with confidence, gain an internationally recognised qualification, and explore the stunning waters around the island. A highlight of the course is our trip to the unspoiled island of Lobos, where you’ll usually have the chance to swim straight from the boat in crystal-clear waters. Whether you’re new to boating or looking to build your skills, this course offers a unique way to experience the ocean and take home more than just memories.

The course is conducted on is a Grand G750 7.5 metre RIB with a 200hp V8 Mercury engine.  There is a maximum of three people on the course.

On successful completion of the course, students will have an internationaly recognised powerboat license and are eligible to apply for an International Certificate of Competence (ICC) from the RYA *.

The minimum age to take the RYA Powerboat Level 2 course is 12 years old. However, those under 16 will receive a certificate endorsed with the restriction that they should only operate a powerboat under the supervision of a responsible adult (children between 8 and 12 can take the powerboat level 1 course)

Course Content:

The course typically covers the following key areas:

Boat Handling: This includes maneuvering the boat at slow speeds, in close quarters, and at higher speeds (including planing speed).

Securing to a buoy and anchoring: Practicing proper techniques for mooring and anchoring.

Leaving and Coming Alongside: Mastering the skills of approaching and safely departing from docks, pontoons, or other vessels.

Man Overboard Procedures: Learning how to recover a person who has fallen overboard.

Basic Navigation and Collision Regulations: Understanding basic chart work, buoyage, tides, and the rules for preventing collisions at sea.

Engine Checks and Maintenance: Familiarizing oneself with routine engine checks and basic fault diagnosis.

Emergency Procedures:  Learning about various emergency situations and how to respond effectively.

International Certificate of Competence:  The RYA Powerboat Level 2 is a widely recognized qualification, allowing you to operate powerboats up to 10 meters in length in certain conditions.

* Who can apply to the RYA for an ICC?

  • Applicants must be 16 or older.

  • UK Nationals and Residents: The RYA issues ICCs to UK nationals and residents, meaning those whose primary residence is in the UK.

  • Other Nationalities: Nationals from countries that have not adopted the relevant international resolution (UNECE Resolution No. 40) can also apply, but they may not be able to renew or amend their ICC if their country later adopts the resolution.

  • Nationals of Countries Adopting Resolution No. 40: If you are a national of a country that has adopted Resolution No. 40, you can only obtain an ICC from the RYA if you are resident in the UK.
